In contrast to previous Summits or congresses, the 5th Mediterranean summit will be held on October 2016 on board ship cruising through the Mediterranean sea to ports in Italy, Spain and France. This innovative idea will stimulate interest in all countries of the Mediterranean region and beyond and will attract more scientists and industry people to our meetings.

 

The "Conference on a cruise" is a great and prestigious opportunity to benefit from. The advantageous fares offer the possibility to invite customers to a 5 nights cruising from Savona to Rome, Barcelona, Marseille and back to Savona (see Accommodation and Registration fees)

Topics and scientific program.

The Summit has been, and still is, a unique opportunity for the Mediterranean countries to meet and discuss the latest researches about the poultry industry in the Mediterranean region and beyond.

Topics of interest to the scientific community and to the industry at large such as nutrition, economics of poultry production, housing and management, alternative feed sources, food safety and disease control programs with special reference to the Mediterranean region's conditions and needs will be discussed and presented by international experts.

As indicated by the statistics of the summit held in Beirut in 2014, the majority of the presentations orbit around Nutrition without shading the importance given to the Poultry health or the Genetics researches.



Geographical areas covered:

In 2014, the 4th MPS held in Beirut - Lebanon gathered 31 countries from all over the world.

Based on the statistics over all the MPS events, the countries around the Mediterranean are the most active countries as indicated in the figure at right.

This not surprising:

a) Countries surrounding the Mediterranean sea enjoy almost of the same climate.

b) Nature and agriculture are climate dependent.

This is one of the main reasons why the Mediterranean Poultry Summit gained importance and became one of the affirmed scientific events of the area.

From the Center and South of Europe to North Africa, passing by the Middle East, all these areas are important for the poultry industry and are actively present in the summit.

Timing.

 October 20 - 25, 2016, is a convenient date because:

- The 5th Mediterranean Poultry Summit is the only interregional WPSA event in the area. (Europe, Middle East or Africa). Therefore, a higher number of researchers from countries around the Mediterranean and beyond will be take part in this Summit.
