(Croatian Branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association)
The Croatian Branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA-CRO) is a professional and scientific association that brings together experts involved in all aspects of poultry science and production. It operates as part of the global WPSA network, whose mission is to advance knowledge and connect research, education, and industry in the poultry sector.
WPSA-CRO promotes interdisciplinary collaboration between universities, research institutes, veterinary and agricultural professionals, and the poultry industry. Its executive structure traditionally includes representatives from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, the Croatian Veterinary Institute’s Poultry Centre, and industry partners — ensuring strong links between science and practice.
The association organizes scientific meetings, symposia, and professional gatherings, and actively participates in international WPSA events. It has co-organized major European conferences, including the 4th European Poultry Genetics Symposium in Dubrovnik (2005), earning international recognition for its contribution to poultry science. Following the successful organization of large international poultry events — such as the European Poultry Conference in Dubrovnik in 2018 and EggMeat 2025 (the XX European Symposium on the Quality of Eggs and Egg Products and the XXVI European Symposium on the Quality of Poultry Meat) in Zadar — WPSA-CRO continues to position Croatia as an important hub for poultry science in Europe.
As a member of the European Federation of WPSA, WPSA-CRO supports knowledge exchange, education, and lifelong learning in poultry science. It encourages its members to engage in international working groups and contributes to strengthening regional and global cooperation in the poultry sector.
